API import

API import is the second option you have for adding data to your trading accounts. With API import CHAINOMETRY connects directly to the exchange and downloads the data for you. This is the most convenient option for you all you need to do is generate read-only API keys so that we can connect to the exchange. Consult your exchange's help system for generating API keys and always make sure that they are read-only. This ensures that no changes can be made to your account with these keys. See Add Data

Manual data entry

Manual data entry is the final option for adding data. You can easily add trade, deposit and withdrawal data using a simple user interfaces that check your data as you go.

Import Sessions

Each time you import data (with both File and API import) a record is created which summarises what happened during the import. This record is known in CHAINOMETRY as an 'Import Session'. This allows you to go back and view all the data that was imported during that session as well as delete the data if there were any issues. Import sessions also gives you important information about how many records were imported, the earliest date and the latest date in the set. Make sure you have no overlapping records between session otherwise you risk having duplicate records.

Potential duplicates are also managed during this process. If you have already imported a file then it will not be imported again. If there are any trades that have the same date & time, asset pair, price and quantity (see Identicality) then these are flagged as potential duplicates and you can delete them. Potential duplicates are not counted against your plan. Your Import Sessions
